Song of the Gardener

© 2000Adam, my beloved child,
I'm planting you this garden.
A home for you and for your wife.
From the earth I formed you first,
Formed you in my image,
Filled you with my Spirit and my life.Peter, my beloved child,
I'm weeping in this garden,
This night my passion has begun.
Peter, will you pray with me,
Pray for just one hour?
And ask that my Father's will be done!Judas, my beloved child,
I'm waiting in this garden,
I know that soon my life must end.
Why do you betray me so,
Betray me with a kiss?
Judas you're my brother and my friend!Magdalene, my beloved child,
I'm working in this garden.
I once was dead but now I live!
Magdalene, don't cling to me,
Don't cling in desperation.
But wait for the Spirit that I'll give.To you my beloved child,
I'm walking in your garden,
To heal your dry and broken land.
From fountains, my streams will flow,
Streams of living water,
Forming pools where once was burning sand.
